Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal works by targeting hair follicles. The laser light is converted to heat and absorbed by the dark pigment of the hair. As a result, these hairs are forced into an inactive phase.

FAQ

How many treatments are required?
  • In our experience, it depends on each person’s body physiology, hormones, and hair density. Typically, anywhere from 8-10 sessions are required. Some clients need touch up’s once a year.

What can I expect at my appointment?
  • First appointment there will be forms to fill out, so the 1st appointment is a little longer than rest. Please arrive a few minutes early to complete.

  • A comfortable, relaxed environment where you can ask questions and are encouraged to! We want you to feel

  • Appointments are generally quick 10-30 minutes per area being treated.

  • During your treatment you can expect slight discomfort, similar to a rubber-band snap on your skin.

  • Our machine has cooling technology, but you still will experience some warmth. This is the laser targeting the hair follicle beneath the skin. The heat is not damaging any other part of your skin and will leave your skin looking and feeling healthy!

Are there any side effects?
  • Side effects are very uncommon but may include temporary redness, follicular edema (little pink/red “puffiness and small bumps like “goosebumps”), swelling and itching in the treated area, hives, rashes, bruising. Most side effects only last up to 24-48 hours. Some clients may experience Hyperpigmentation (darkening of skin), Hypopigmentation (loss of skin pigmentation) again this generally not a permanent side effect.

Is there anyone that should not have laser done?
  • Laser hair removal is not effective on white, blonde, or red hair follicles.

  • Anyone currently taking Accutane.

  • Clients who are pregnant/ breastfeeding are not able to be treated.

  • We are not able to treat over tattoos. If you have a tattoo in the treatment area, it will be taped and avoided.

Before Your Appointment

  • The area to be treated must be clean-shaven within 4-24 hours prior to appointment. If unable to shave area yourself, please advise prior to appointment as we can accommodate*. *A shaving fee of $20 will be applied.

  • Clients must stop waxing, tweezing and chemical epilation 6 weeks prior to treatment in the area to be treated.

  • Avoid UV exposure 7 days prior to your treatment and sunless tanning products 5 days prior to your treatment. Please exfoliate the area prior to appointment to remove any residual product if used in area being treated.

  • We do prefer you not to use numbing cream during your laser treatments. We like for you to be able to provide feedback on how the treatment is feeling. If you need to use it, please ensure the name and amount used is noted prior to your laser session and it is completely removed prior to appointment.

  • Avoid chemical peels and other laser procedures in the area to be treated for 2 weeks prior and two weeks after your laser treatment if the area is that is being lasered. Avoid all alpha hydroxy and beta hydroxy products (AHA/BHA), hydroquinone, retinols/retinoid, for 7 days before treatment if used in the area that is being treated.

After Your Appointment

  • Avoid extended UV exposure for 7 days post-treatment.

  • Clients should not perform any physical activity that increases body temperature or blood pressure within 2 hours before and after treatments. No hot tubs or swimming within 24 hours after appointment. This is a precaution to avoid any unnecessary irritation.

  • No perfume or scented products in the area of treatment for 24 hours.

  • Avoid using seat warmers immediately after treatment.
